Buffalo Gap Camp Facilities & Amenities

Buffalo Gap Camp is now available for individual cabin rentals, campsite and facilities rentals as as well as available for group events such as sports camps, youth camps, music jamborees, dance groups, weddings and anniversaries, reunions and other special events. Book on-line, on-site or contact us about renting any portion of the camp.

Located on 117 acres, secluded amid the mountains of West Virginia, the camp is in a valley between two mountains, Slane's Knob and Sandy Ridge. Buffalo Gap Camp provides an idyllic setting for a variety of small and large functions, ranging from retreats, youth or family events, meditation to business seminars, workshops, weddings, dance and music events.



The Camp is now open to the public for advanced Reservations and Walk-In's.

Our 33 Private Cabin Facilities
(308 total beds inside 33 cabins)

The 16 Uphill Cabins:

The 16 Uphill are open air cabins that offers a combined sleeping capacity of 160.
The 16 Uphill Cabins were built in the 1950's when the facility was used as a children's summer camp.
The screened sides permit the flow of air. The accommodations are combination of single beds and bunks, Separate shower facilities are provided outside, but each includes a sink and commode.

The Hilton
4 private entrance cabins in 4 quadrants.


The 17 Downhill Cabins:

The 17 Downhill Cabins offer a combined sleeping capacity of 148 and are fully enclosed.
The downhill cabins have windows and include private showers / full baths.

40 Campsites for 2010:

All of our campsites are Park and Hike-In. We have primitive campsites in four distinct regions, each with fire-rings, many with nearby access to picnic area with tables and charcoal grill pit areas (coming soon). All sites first come, first served.
Primitive RV Sites for 2010:

Primitive RV sites (no hook-up'), are currently available in Cold Stream Creek Park South, off Rubenstein Rd. / Joe Shanholtz Rd. This region of the campground is accessible from Rubenstein Rd. Park in the large field area and utilize any campsites that you choose. It is not recommended that you park close to the waterfront campsites as the ground is soft from the water table being high.



Entertainment Pavilion

The 3800 square foot Entertainment Pavilion was constructed in the mid-1980s using flanged post and beam construction techniques. It will accommodate about 200 people plus a bandstand or small stage for performers (stage always present). A row of church pew style benches wraps around the perimeter. It includes a 32 channel sound board, amps, speakers, 6 mics, and a complete sound system for our concert performers. Centrally located, the pavilion is the focal point of the camp.

Swisher Hall Gymnasium

Any activity that needs a large indoor space can be accommodated as Swisher Hall has room for all (10,000 square feet!). This large space sports two full basketball courts and plenty of room for entertaining. The hall measures an astounding 100' x 100' and the full contingent of 250+ campers can be on the floor at one time! It has window drops that allow full air flow or complete closure along all 4 sides of the building.

Campground Quiet Hours:
Please refrain from unnecessary noise and disturbances in the Camp from 10:00pm to 8:00am. This includes keeping voices low in cabins, when passing by campsites and cabins, and not playing loud music and keeping down conversations around late night campfires. Thank you.


Firewood Policy:
$5.00 per container load. Generous sized heavy grade plastic containers are available at the firewood piles. Please return containers to firewood pile after use. Several piles throughout the Camp.
Pay at the Registration / Check-In kiosk in the Dining Hall.

Foraging is Free: Collect and gather fallen wood debris as available.
Do NOT cut down live trees or branches from live trees.
